“Shit then hit it as hard as you can. Knock that shit out the park and convince her you that nigga she needs.” Cutty said, laughing.

“I think I will… strange we’re talkin’ ‘bout shit like this while somebody’s straight lookin’ to kill us.”

Cutty chuckled and stopped several stoops down from his, taking his gun out of his waistband. “Yeah well, I guess we just reachin’ for somethin’ normal from a very dark place. Don’t worry, homie, all of this is gonna play out in our favor.”

Gavin laughed and took his own gun out. “I ain’t worried. I roll with the winnin’ team.”

“Damn sure do,” he pointed down the street, “There’s Tony.”

Tony had obviously parked off the block the same as he had. He was walking toward them fast with Josie by his side, looking like she was ready to bust a cap in anybody that seemed even remotely like a threat.

“You okay?” Tony asked, eying the blood on Cutty’s hand.

Cutty smiled grimly. “I’m good; this ain’t my blood, little brother. Y’all all right?”

“We good too, Cutty. Let’s go find Cicero and kill his ass right now. I ain’t down with random niggas shootin’ at me.” Josie said, tossing her hair over her shoulder and looking at him like she expected some follow through.

Cutty stared back at her, knowing exactly how she felt. His initial reaction was that they should go hunt Cicero’s ass down tonight and shoot him until he was dead like the dog he was, but after further thought, Cutty thought that might not be the best idea or the right way to go. Fuck Cicero. His ass is definitely gonna die… but maybe not tonight, he thought. He gave Josie a smile and said, “I hear you, mama, and I ain’t mad, but there may be a different way to go with this. Let’s all go upstairs and talk about it.”

“A different way to go? Cutty, are you fuckin’ crazy? Let’s go get this nigga right now!” Josie yelled at him like she thought he was stupid. Cutty narrowed his eyes at her and Crush put his hand on her arm and wisely pulled her back before she got right up in Cutty’s face.

His smile was gone and he looked at her without humor. “I said we’ll talk about it upstairs. Now calm the fuck down and take your goddamn gun out.”

Josie’s perfect eyebrows went up and her pouty little mouth dropped open as if she couldn’t believe Cutty had just spoken to her like that and she pulled her gun out like she was about to use it on him. She pursed her lips and Cutty could tell she was tryin’ real hard not to totally lose her temper.

“Whatever you say, fearless fuckin’ leader.” She said, her voice dripped with sarcasm and Cutty knew she was pissed, but she was no longer screaming and that worked just fine for him. He smirked and thought, Tony’s gonna have his hands full with this lil’ heifer.

“You heard the lady, let’s go.
